The General Forum or Meeting of the Front Range PC Users Group will be at 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Collins Senior Center South Ballroom (with a stage and projection screen).

Guests and newbies are welcome and encouraged to come.  The program planned is "FRPCUG's HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE ZOO" by as of yet unidentified members.  The ZOOs are among the most popular programs of the year!  These are the fun, low stress, high information flow meetings that demonstrates the breadth of interests of our members and people who walk in off the streets!  We have found great support of these street people among our membership and manage to make members out of almost 97% or those who wander in.   It is absolutely amazing how many of these street people become related to members by marriage, or parental indiscretion, or other behavior totally unbecoming a computer geeks.
IMPORTANT NOTICE!
July's meeting will be held on the SECOND TUESDAY, or July 10th, 2007 at the same venue!  The program will be our annual "ZOO!" with various gurus chanting their mantras and exhorting the gods to power those computers present to demonstrate exemplary behavior!  This program is always a favorite of the members and is a veritable Asian smorgasbord of delight.

ALSO NOTE:  NO MEETING IN AUGUST!  Sr. Center Maintenance closes the building part of August for cleaning and refinishing the floors, etc.  In September we'll be back to our 1st Tuesday meeting on September 4, 2007!

We're movin' on up!

Hey,  This is WHERE THE RUBBER MEETS THE ROAD!  Come have a look!!
With three to five people coming together at 11:00 a.m. in the Senior Center Lobby, we have develop  an event that has installed operating systems, helped develop connectivity to the web and to other computers, we are working on several database projects, we've built a computer for a retirement center in Nebraska delivered and installed by  a member, and we've drunk a lot of coffee and had a very interesting, fun time.  We've also completed many pages of our FRPCUG.org website.  It is starting to function quite well for our club!
All are welcome.  When we have enough to be a crowd, maybe they'll give us a room!  We nearly always have a wireless access point, so come join us and we'll see what develops!  Several people have mentioned they would be interested in participating in a "WEB Development SIG."  Show up on Saturday morning and we'll deflipper a time and place to expand the idea!  Chuck McJilton and I are usually there from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. and we'll be working on improvements to www.frpcug.org.  Join us...

There is no question that program selection and marketing bring members and guests our FRPCUG meetings.  Some old formats, i.e. our hardware and software "ZOO" is  always a popular program and attracts good attendance.
We typically have 25 to 35 people at our meetings, but outside presenters help stimulate attendance.  The FBI agent, Jamie Leben, Sean Reifschneider and Evelyn Mitchell on Virtual Computing, drew the higher end of the attendance range.  It is great to see people coming out for meetings.  We need to continue to present stimulating programs, while we continue to function as a forum for  questions, and a sounding board for hardware and software problems.
It would be my hope that keeping a broader approach to dealing with all operating systems and a broad range of computer problems and possibilities will keep people interested in the club.  I also hope that members will share more of their successes, how they're doing maintaining stable computer systems, and what they're doing to achieve a high level of stability with their systems.
The board is open to suggestions about what is interesting to the group and to individuals in the group.  We need a constant flow of member ideas crossing the table so that we can prepare programs that meet the wants and desires of the group.

Should you want to participate in this discussion and are not yet a member of the Front Range PC Users Group, please email us at contact(at)frpcug.org and request authorization to register.

A previous post was, on its surface, it is a complement, saying what a neat site this was.  However, it comes from a banned p o r n o graphic site which I'm all to pleased to ban.  So far only 6 posts have been from FRPCUG members and all the rest, 584 of them, posts and visitors, have been deleted, modified automatically, and/or banned from posting.   Though this would seem limiting, my hope is that people will be willing to risk requests for information or shared information on this BBS, and not be offended by the trash that builds up at the rate of 5 or 6 foul posts per day.  What's an administrator to do???  I will continue to ban sites until only members can enter, if necessary.  In fact, I've been banning whole sub-domains at a time.  It will be interesting to see what is left when I stop receiving junk, spam and scams.
So, please enter into the dialog of computer enthusiasts, and ignore the rest!    Jim B.

As you may have surmised, this has become a members only bulletin board.  As a last resort to allow for discussions in the interest of the Front Range PC Users Group.  You are welcome to read but you may not register without permission.  Email contact(at)frpcug.org to request consideration for access to this board.
